Spotlight | The Rapport Furniture Los Angeles Showroom

Even at a crowded party, you can tell when a star has arrived. It feels like the entire room tilts in their direction and the light shines brighter on them. They always stand out in a crowd.

The same is true of Rapport’s Los Angeles showroom because while there’s no shortage of furniture stores in LA, when you walk into Rapport, you know that you’re someplace special.

We spoke with store manager James Crute, to learn what sets Rapport apart, and what makes it one of the best Furniture Stores in Los Angeles.

Q: What makes Rapport's showroom different from other Los Angeles furniture stores?

J: We have by far the largest contemporary furniture store in the area. We have over 40,000 square feet of showroom, which is unheard of in Los Angeles. We’re able to offer furniture from over fifty different designers and we work with exclusive brands that are just spectacular, such as KARE and Natuzzi.

On top of that, there are so many different services that we’re capable of performing on site.

We have our own in-house shop and our own upholsterer and we also offer our own in-house white-glove delivery team.

To add even more value, we have a 40,000-square-foot warehouse attached to the showroom. That means that we’re able to keep a huge amount of stock on hand that we can deliver immediately, whereas a lot of companies, because of all the supply chain issues are taking at least six months to fulfill an order.

Q: Talk about some of the on-site services you offer.

A: So our upholsterer has been doing this for a long time. His name is Manuel and he's an old-school craftsman. Anything that he we give him he's able to do. He’s experienced with all kinds of different fabrics and materials.

Juan is the head of our shop and he can pretty much make anything. He actually just made some table legs for us. He can even do electrical work and create backlit walls in houses. His shop is attached to our showroom which is very convenient.

One of the things that our clients love is how much customization we can provide them with. A lot of them have very specific needs or visions for what they want and we like to say that if you can dream it, we can make it happen.

Q: Does that mean you can build custom furniture that is specific to a space or room in someone’s house?

A: Yes, absolutely. We can do pieces that are 100% unique and customizable. A lot of the vendors we work with can do sizing down to the millimeter. We can also do lots of different finishes, such as metals or glass. We do custom glass as well. So if you want to have custom glass made for a table we can do that.

Our owner has been doing this for 40-plus years. I like to say that he’s the good kind of crazy because he is so obsessed with fine furniture. He knows how to buy and create really beautiful pieces.

Q: What is the in-store experience like when it comes to working with your consultants?

A: Every member of our team is very knowledgable on our inventory and has been brought on for a specific reason. Some of them even went to school for interior design and can lay out the entire room for you. We also offer in-home consultations if you want us to help you design a space.

There’s a lot of smart people that work here and we’re very team oriented. We like to pull on everyone’s knowledge to get the best solutions for our clients. And if you can’t find the exact thing you're looking for on our floor, myself and the staff know how to find it and get it for you.

Q: You also offer a lot of art in your store as well.

A: We do, and we have a lot of interesting pieces. The main focus for art right now is from KARE Design. It’s a fun, funky, eclectic and energetic brand. Some of the artwork they offer is pretty wild. And a lot of accessories too. So the accessories from them are just spectacular. If you want to spice up a place you just get a couple of KARE accessories and you're taken care of. It’s really cool stuff.

Q: What pieces in your store are you most excited about right now?

A: We have a new brand called Lazzoni that we just put on the sales floor. It has a phenomenal price point. They offer 150 different color options and fabrics. It’s contemporary furniture with modern updates. It has clean lines and is made from durable materials. It is extremely well priced for something that you can customize pretty much any way you can imagine it.
